Science Cafe LIttle Rock

June 24th, 2009 — 4:52pm

Last night was the weekly meeting for the Science Cafe Little Rock, Sciencecafelr.com. The topic was Arkansas history and the panel consisted of a conservator, a Civil War medicine guru, and an agriculture historian. All I. All the panel was very interesting. Personally I could have listened to the Civil War buff all night. His stories of Confederate field surgeons were exciting. It turns out that the Confederates West of the Mississippi River had to use natural herbs for medicine because they could not easily acquire supies from their brethren East of the river.

As the night went on many questions were asked and I felt better about humanity, that is that there are intellectuals in my local community.

When the nerd session ended a lie jazz band hit the stage. Jazz + Smart Talk is just what my spirit needed. The band was inspiring. There were 6 or 7 members and they each ot their turn in the spotlight. All in all, I will definitely be goin back to The Afterthought for Science Cafe and Live Jazz.

Epic Win.
